"I couldn't save my best friend, Peter Parker, so now I save everyone else. And I don't do friends anymore, just to avoid any distractions."
―Gwen Stacy[src]

Gwen Stacy is the one and only Spider-Woman of her universe. She is one of the Spider-People who were accidentally pulled out of her dimension by the Kingpin's Super-Collider.

Biography

History

At a young age, Gwen was bitten by a radioactive spider and, using her newfound spider-like abilities to fight crime, became known as Spider-Woman. As Gwen, she joined a band as its drummer, and she had a best friend: Peter. At one point, she saved her father from certain death.

Gwen's best friend at one point became the Lizard, whom she had to defeat. Devastated that she wasn't able to save him, Gwen began to distance herself from other people to avoid "distractions" and singularly dedicated her life to protecting others.

Meet Spider-Gwen - SPIDER-MAN- INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE

Around two years after she became Spider-Woman, Gwen was pulled into a portal that took her to a different dimension and time, landing her a week before the portal opened up in that world.

Her spider-sense led her to Brooklyn Visions Academy — specifically, to Miles Morales. Gwen later intentionally bumped into Miles, not expecting the boy, who was still adjusting to his day-old powers, to accidentally get his fingers stuck in her hair, forcing her to get the side of her head shaved. Outside, she saw Miles walking on a wall in a panic. Gwen began to follow Miles more earnestly and tracked him and a Spider-Man from another dimension, Peter B. Parker, to Alchemax. Here, Gwen momentarily took on a disguise to gain access to the lab and later assisted the two in their escape from Doc Ock.

After getting introductions, and some advice from Gwen to the newly-bitten Miles, out of the way, the trio made their way to this world's Aunt May, where they soon met three other Spider-People had the same idea. Here, they all discussed their plan to use the Super-Collider to return them to their homes. Peter informed them that one would have to stay behind to destroy the machine, risking disintegration due to being in a different dimension, for which Gwen and every other Spider-Person volunteered. Miles then told them that he would be the one to destroy the machine so they could all go home, and the others, except Peter B., questioned how ready he was.

A hurt Miles left to figure things out on his own, only to return once they've created the new goober for the machine and with news that his uncle was the Prowler, one of Kingpin's enforcers, all of whom followed Miles to May's home and led to a battle, during which the Scorpion went after him and she was able to lure him away from the house.

Later, after the battle died down, they tracked Miles to his dorm room and tried to console him for the death of his uncle. Gwen bid him goodbye and waited outside, hoping that Miles would be able to prove to Peter that he was ready, to no avail.

They made their way to Fisk Tower and snuck in, blending in easily among the servers dressed as Spider-Man, and went to the Super-Collider through Fisk's private elevator. Once there, they were almost immediately detected by Fisk's lackeys. Gwen fought them off and saw the moment Doc Ock would have killed Peter but was thwarted by Miles, much to her glee. In the ensuing battle, Gwen was briefly knocked out by Doc Ock and almost fell into the collider's unstable portal but was saved by Miles. Once Doc Ock and Fisk's other enforcers were no longer threats, Miles took the goober from Peter and took control of the beam, allowing the others to go home.

Before she left, Miles asked Gwen if he was allowed to like her new hair now, which he'd been the cause of, now. Gwen, recognizing that Miles was flirting with her, pointed out that she was 15 months older, which Miles countered with an Einstein joke (about their age difference being relative) that he knew Gwen would appreciate. When asked if they were at least friends now (despite the fact that she'd sworn off developing friendships), Gwen agreed. Gwen jumped through the portal and returned home, where Gwen looked back at her time with Miles, and the photo of them on her phone, fondly.

Some time after, Gwen's voice was heard through a portal that opened above Miles' bed.[1]
