"I know I don't always do what you need me to do or say what you need me to say. I see this spark in you. It's amazing. It's why I push you. But it's yours. Whatever you choose to do with it, you'll be great."

Biography[]
Early Life[]
- "I got pulled in a lot of different directions when I was young"
- ―Jefferson Davis

When he and his brother, Aaron, were young, they used to tag walls with graffiti according to his own word he and his brother were the kind of people their neighborhood wouldn't want to mess with. When Jeff started on the path to becoming a law enforcer, he and Aaron drifted apart. Jeff went on to fall in love with Rio Morales and had a son with her, whom they named Miles. After having Miles, the two decided to get married. Despite being estranged from Aaron, they did not completely cut each other off and Miles often visited him.
When Spider-Man began saving the city, Jeff was among the few police officers who were miffed by the interference and popularity of the vigilante. At the same time he began to get a huge love for his son wanting him to do special things and not make mistakes such as his brother and he did on their youth.[2][1]
Collider Crisis[]
Jeff saw talent in his son and pushed him to better himself at his new school, the Brooklyn Visions Academy, causing some friction between the two of them. Despite this, the two had a loving relationship.
One evening, Miles came home distraught, unbeknownst to them that he had witnessed the death of Spider-Man, Jeff and Rio assumed that it was because of school stress, and though they allowed him to stay home instead of return to his dorm room, Jeff expressed some level of disapproval. Miles disappeared shortly after this and wasn't heard from for quite a while, worrying both Jeff and Rio. Jeff became desperate enough that he called his brother in hopes of finding him.

The next day while on patrol, Jeff answered a call to a disturbance involving multiple Spider-People. Jeff spotted a figure swinging away with a body and followed, only to find a boy in a Spider-Man merch costume in front of a body. The boy disappears and Jeff identified the body as his brother. Furious and in mourning, he put out an APB on "a new Spider-Man." Jeff then went to Miles' dorm and tried to apologize and explain the way he'd been acting; seeing the moving shadow under his door, Jeff just assumed that he was being ignored.

Later that evening, Jeff saw the dimensional anomaly occurring around Fisk Tower. Jeff helped people evacuate and ended up in a room with a view of the battle between Wilson Fisk and the new Spider-Man, urging the latter to get up when he seemed defeated. Once the city was safe, Jeff went back outside, having placed the Kingpin's lackey Tombstone under arrest and soon received a call from Miles. The call got cut and Jeff was then approached by Spider-Man himself, who then hugged him shortly after their greetings, much to his surprise.
Though Jeff evidently developed a newfound respect for this version of Spider-Man after witnessing his actions to save the city, Jeff tried to downplay it by saying he didn't approve of his methods but that they would just need to agree to disagree.

Jeff continued to try to repair his relationship with Miles, even taking him to a wall — presumably the privately - owned one he promised Miles over the phone - to tag with his art, this one in honor of Aaron.[2]
