Peter Benjamin Parker is a teenager who after being bitten by a genetically altered spider, and gaining spider-like powers, used those powers to become the local superhero from New York City known as the spectacular Spider-Man.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Becoming Spider-Man[]
Peter Parker was raised by his aunt and uncle due to the absence of his parents. Because of that, Peter would become friends with Eddie Brock who also shared the same pain. In February 2008 in his sophomore year, Peter Parker, along with his classmates, went to a field trip at Empire State University.
There, Peter was bitten by a genetically altered spider that overwrote Peter's DNA, giving him spider-like powers and abilities. Seeing the potential in his newfound abilities, Peter designed a pair of wrist devices called "Web-Shooters" that fired a web-like liquid and designed a suit.
Lying to his Uncle Ben that he was studying at the library, Peter secretly entered a wrestling match under the name Spider-Man for a $1,000 prize. Although he quickly defeated the champion, the manager of the event didn't pay him what he deserved because he neglected to sign some papers. Angered by this event, Peter allowed a burglar to get away with the money from the manager's vault, telling him that it was not his problem.
Karma would give Peter a bad move, since that same day his uncle was murdered. After realizing that the murderer was the same thief who Peter let escape, he realized that vengeance isn't always the answer, making him decide to use his powers to help people and embraced Ben's philosophy about responsibility as motivation to become the superhero Spider-Man, under the motto that "With Great Power There Must Also Come Great Responsibility".[2][3]
Life as Spider-Man[]
- "Captain Stacy... I'm so sorry"
- ―Spider-Man to George Stacy
During his early days as Spider-Man, as he was starting junior year, Peter Parker faced off against the Vulture, managing to save his best friend's father from the villain as well as defeating the Enforcers at the same time. During this time, Peter would win an internship in Empire State University with Doctor Curtis Connors, accompanied by his two friends Eddie Brock and Gwen Stacy.
Some time after these events, Peter would meet Max Dillon, an ESU electrician who after an accident became the villain Electro, which after a difficult battle Spider-Man would manage to defeat him. However, things for Peter got quite complicated with the arrival of the supervillain called Lizard, who turned out to be Doctor Connors himself mutated due to an experimental serum. Peter as Spider-Man would be able to defeat the villain and help the rest of the interns to create a cure and not only that, but also managed to take some photos to sell to the Daily Bugle and earn their job to help his aunt pay the bills.
Unfortunately, in view of the rest, Peter left them for selfish reasons, causing Peter to win the job at the Daily Bugle but lose the internship at ESU. And not only that, but his relationship with his friends began to crumble, especially with Eddie Brock. Later, while Peter was working as a photographer for the Daily Bugle, new villains would stalk the city causing Spider-Man to face off against Shocker, and then the Sandman and Rhino as Spider-Man, with the last two being thieves that Peter defeated earlier in his crime fighting career during summer vacation.
During this time, Spider-Man would also realize that all the villains he had faced were part of an elaborate plan by a crime lord called Big Man to prevent Spider-Man from getting involved in his criminal activities. Later, Peter would meet the Green Goblin and hade a difficult battle only for the Goblin to escape some time later. Some time later Peter faced Otto Octavius, who became Doctor Octopus after an accident that made his tentacles go crazy and take control over him. Some time later Peter merged with a symbiote changing his suit to a completely black one; although Parker initially liked the suit, he came to the conclusion that it made him more aggressive, which was why he decided to get rid of it.
The symbiote ended up bonding with his ex-friend turned enemy Eddie Brock, who now hated both his hero identity and his alter ego, becoming Venom while at the same period of time Spider-Man got to have a kind of on and off relationship with Black Cat as he was facing Chameleon. Peter would also face against some new villains like Mysterio and Kraven as well as old ones like his re-encounter with the Sinister Six (who Peter defeated before with the black suit). Following those events, Peter Parker would start dating his classmate Liz Allen while at the same time that he began to develop feelings for his best friend Gwen Stacy. Some time later, as Spider-Man, Peter Parker fought against his girlfriend's brother, who transformed himself into the supervillain known as Molten Man.
Some time after these events, Spider-Man would be reunited with the Green Goblin, while his relationship with the Black Cat would break. Even so, Spider-Man continued to battle against the villain on his own discovering that the Green Goblin was Norman Osborn and not his best friend Harry as he had thought. Having a bloody final battle, Peter would let his anger take control this time, causing the Green Goblin to end his life after crashing his glider. Even before that, Peter decided to break up with Liz in order to be with Gwen, however to his bad luck Gwen would not break up with Harry as they had planned, managing to leave Peter heartbroken.[2]
A few months after those events, Peter would continue to save the city from any threat, however he couldn't save the father of Gwen, Captain George Stacy, who died in his arms, while Peter apologized to him.[3]
Forming Part of the Spider-Society[]
Sometime later, Peter got recruited by another Spider man version Miguel O'Hara to join an elite Spider-Society on Earth-928, whose purpose is to halt dimensional anomalies from altering the "canon events" of another universe.[3]
Spider-Wars[]
Trying to comfort Miles Morales[]
- "We know it's hard... but it's the truth, Miles."
- ―Spider-Man as he tries to comfort Spider-Man
Peter sympathized with Miles' pain and attempted to reason with him that he had to let his father die to preserve the stability of Canon events.
Hunt of Miles Morales[]
Later on, Peter was one of the many members of the Spider-Society to try to prevent him from returning to his home dimension under Miguel's orders. Unfortunately, Miles escaped; but unbeknownst to Peter and the others that participated in the chase, Miles accidentally sent himself to Earth-42, the home dimension of the radioactive spider that bit him. During the train scene, he can be last seen, both holding Spider-Cat and watching Miguel fall off the train.[3]
Personality[]
Peter Parker has shown to have a very mature personality for someone his age. Being someone brave, selfless and willing to do the right thing. After the murder of his uncle, Parker has shown that he is determined to put his words into practice by always putting the needs of others before his own. After the death of Captain Stacy, Peter learned the lesson that you can't always save everyone. Although it is implied that Peter did not agree with Miguel O'Hara's ideas at first cause Miles wanted to save his father from dying. Peter has also shown to be a very calm person, deciding to calmly talk to Miles about the matter as well as his Canon Event.
