Quentin Beck was a visual effects artist who wanted to make a name for himself in the film industry. Due to lack of recognition, Beck realized that his expertise in illusions could make him an effective supervillain, by taking on the identity of Mysterio. Deciding to become famous by defeating Spider-Man Beck would manage to become one of the many villains the vigilante has faced during his high school career.
