The Radioactive Spider is a type of spider, that in most universes gives Spider-People their powers. The spider is usually an arachnid that was exposed to large amounts of radiation or genetically modified from experiments and after biting someone, they became the Spider-People of that dimension.

However, there are some variations such as the magic ones, which were created by Magical Gods in order to created that Spider-People. Either if the Spider is radioactive, magic or genetically altered this variation of the arachnid is always referred to as the Radioactive Spider.

History[]

Earth-616[]

The Spider (Peter E-616) 001

During a radiation test at a public exhibition, a little spider got caught within the radiation rays. The exposure to the great amount of radiations began, in result, to changes its genetics managing to genetically altered it as well as its venom.

The radioactive spider managed to bite a student from Midtown High named of Peter Parker. The spider's venom (combined with the small amounts of radiation) make some changes to Peter's DNA (managing to merged small portions of its own DNA to his own) those event gave young Peter certain abilities of a spider, such as the proportionate strength and agility along with the ability to climb on any surface. He could also react to danger quickly with a six sense he denominated as his "spider-sense". After the murdered of his uncle, Ben Parker, teenage Peter Parker would used his newly found powers to protect the city as the masked superhero known as Spider-Man.

Earth-1610[]

On Earth-1610, Peter Parker was bitten by a a genetically modified spider that was created by Alchemax, after those events he would gained powers he would eventually used to become the masked superhero known as the ultimate Spider-Man.

On Earth-65, Gwen Stacy was bitten by a radioactive spider, becoming Spider-Woman.

Earth-42[]

The Spider (Miles E-1610) 001

On Earth-42, a radioactive spider was supposed to bite Miles Morales and eventually make him Spider-Man. However, the spider got transported to Earth-1610 by the Jonathan Ohnn during a testing of Kingpin's collider. As result, the spider escaped and bit that world's Miles Morales instead of its own managing to transform him in the second ultimate Spider-Man as well as indirectly causing the death of that world's Peter Parker who got smashed by the kingpin.Its corpse was later seen at Jonathan Ohnn's Apartment

Peter would later discover that he had gained the proportionate powers of a spider thanks to the bite, which he would use to become the superhero, the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

Characteristics and Traits[]

Each radioactive spider is either altered by radiation or genetically modified from experiments, anyone who is bitten by them will gain spider-like abilities. The the effect of the spider bite changes according to the person but it usually make them bigger and stronger managing to gained an athletic body and become taller. In cases such as Peter Parker (the spider-bite also cures his myopia as well as in some cases the asthma transforming him until the more devolve version of a human). The Spider comes from many colors and sizes from green to red, it seems to be smaller or bigger depending of the version.

  • Even though the radioactive spider is mainly the source of most powers of the Spider-People, there are other ways of gaining radioactive spider-based powers.
    • One main example is Mayday who even though she wasn't bitten by a radioactive spider, she inherited her powers from her dad.
    • Another example is Peter Porker who was himself a spider and was bitten by a radioactive pig.
