Development

A third and final film was confirmed when Lord and Miller revealed in December 2021 that Across the Spider-Verse was being split into two films. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part Two) was expected at that point to be released in 2023. In April 2022, it was retitled Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. In response to a claim by an artist on Across, who spoke to Vulture on condition of anonymity, that it would not be possible to release Beyond as scheduled, Lord and Miller stated that the production would "take the time necessary" for the film to be completed to their standards. The film was delayed indefinitely in late July 2023, in part due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike.

Pre-production for Beyond the Spider-Verse began after the split of Across the Spider-Verse into two movies and continued while Across was being worked on. Full production began after production on Across was complete, but was halted as the voice cast could not record their lines during the SAG-AFTRA strike. Work resumed after the strike was ended.

The movie will introduce more Gwen variants[7], more of Spider-Punk's dimension, and use elements from Disney's Parent Trap elements for the relationship between Miles Morales and Miles G. Morales. During an interview with Deadline, Lord and Miller described the film as having a "satisfying conclusion" and it will go deeper into the emotional bonds between Miles, Gwen, Peter, his parents, Hobie and others. The film will deal with Miles taking the feelings of betrayal and struggling to find a way to turn them into something affirmative. [8]

On December 10, Chris Miller stated that the film is currently "knee-deep" in production.

On March 6, the official Spider-Verse social media accounts teased the fight between Miles and his alternate self with a post showcasing the character's logos.Cite error: Closing </ref> missing for <ref> tag

On August 9, Pavitr Prabhakar voice actor Karan Soni confirmed his return as the character in the sequel and stated that he would be recording voice lines in "a few months". He also stated the film was "deep in production".[9]

On September 10, Miller stated in response to rumors on the film's production delays that there had been "no scraps" and that the animation reels were coming along nicely.[10]

On December 17, Sony revealed a wave of staff announcements for the film. Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson were announced as the directors of the film. Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Amy Pascal and Avi Arad were all confirmed to be returning as producers with the addition of Jinko Gotoh. Aditya Sood and Christina Steinberg were confirmed to be executive producers the film with Jessica Berri serving as a co-producer. The script was seemingly confirmed to be completed as it was penned by returning writers Lord, Miller and Callaham.[11] After worries from fans that the film was behind schedule, Miller confirmed that Persichetti and Thompson had been the directors since the film had began production and that these announcements were reveals to the public.[12]

Music

It is unknown who is doing the soundtrack for the film however Pemberton will be returning for the score.[13] Singer d4vd various times has hinted at being involved with the film's soundtrack however nothing has been confirmed by Sony themselves.[14]
