"So wait a minute: There's an elite crew with all the best spider-people in it?"
|
- - E-1610's Spider-Man eulogy about the Spider-Society[src]
The Spider-Society is a an elite force founded and led by Miguel O'Hara, the Spider-Man from an alternate universe which takes place in the future. They are a organization of Spider-People from different alternate dimensions whose mission is to preserve the multiverse from any possible threat. Their base of operations is a giant building in Nueva York in Earth-928 which is called the Spider-HQ.
History[]
Founding[]
Monitoring the Collider Crisis[]
- "You left a hole wide enough for guys like him to randomly get shot into the wrong dimension."
- ―Spider-Man 2099 to Spider-Woman
After discovering the multiverse and realizing the multiversal event that was plaguing Earth-1610. Miguel O'Hara realized that even though the multiverse had not collapsed, some cracks in the multiverse managed to open causing various villains to be displaced from their universe to others threatening to destabilize the space-time continuum.[1][2]
Miguel along with his AI assistant LYLA would then create a device to travel the multiverse as a way to recruit various Spider-People from multiple universes after realizing that it would require a capable group to defeat all the displaced villains as well as any multiversal threat similar to the Collider Crisis, whose some spiders might not be able to handle alone, or defeat.[2]
Recruitment[]
- "I'm Spider-Man. I need you to come with me"
- ―Spider-Man 2099 to Spider-Man
Using the device that would later be known as the Gizmo, Miguel would visit Earth-67, coming into conflict with this universe's Spider-Man after being accused of pointing which led to a pointing argument. Despite the rough start, Miguel would end up convincing this version of Peter Parker to help him in his cause of protecting the multiverse from displaced villains. Parker agrees, deciding together to defeat the multiverse villains and return them to their home universes.[1][2]
After these events, Miguel would begin to recruit other alternate versions of Spider-Man in order to send the displaced villains to their respective universes, after realizing that he will need more than one Spider-Man to accomplish his mission. During this time, Miguel would travel to Earth-404 meeting Jessica Drew and recruiting her for the team, wherein she would eventually become second in command of the group later.[2]
After that, Miguel would travel to Earth-616, arriving in that world's New York City and crossing paths with the local Spider-Man during one of the latter's patrols, in which Peter B. joked about how Miguel is not as quippy as the rest of the Spider-People to the amused annoyance of Miguel, who would later reveal to him about the team he has created and managed to convince Peter B. of joining the group.[2]
Early Days of the Society[]
Defeating Villains[]
- "Now I'm stuck putting everybody back where they belong before all of time and space collapses!"
- ―Spider-Man 2099 to Spider-Woman
Miguel O'Hara along with Peter B. Parker, Jessica Drew and the Peter Parker of Earth-67 would continue to team up to defeat several villains displaced in the multiverse and return them home, while usually using his Gizmo to accomplish this and send them home themselves. Dubbing themselves as the Spider-Society, the team continued to deport several displaced villains in the multiverse back to their home realities.
As they continued to save the multiverse from multiple threats, Miguel and the rest would begin to meet other variants of Spider-Man that would eventually join them, such as Julia Carpenter, Ben Reilly, another Peter Parker as well as many others. In the same period of time, LYLA would create a new version of the Gizmo which would be used by members of the Spider-Society.[2]

Searching for Miles[]
After Miles escaped to his "home dimension", a still-furious Miguel ejected Gwen (who has deep feelings for Miles) from the Spider-Society, and sent her back to her home dimension, having seeing her as a liability, despite Gwen saying that the Society, themselves, were "supposed to be the good guys". Miguel, alongside Jess and Ben Reilly would then travel to Earth-1610 to find Miles and recapture him, before he can save his dad from being murdered at The Spot's hands.[3]
